SinCity (2005) is a fictional city so there is a sense of disconnect in that we don’t recognize any of the architecture but we know the icons displayed. The older part of the city known as ‘old town’ is dark, mysterious and full of shadows. There is a territorial system of authority there run by the girls of old town. We know from the movie that the girls are feared and respected, so it’s known not to stray into old town unless you can pay. This is a haunted place of history which makes you uneasy to venture into.
